For some reason you guys felt the need to modify the 'My MacBook Pro' equaliser settings. So now my music sounds comparably **** to how it used to. Is there any way to get the settings back?
@AlexanderTSmith, Yes, there were few tweaks made to the equaliser settings in order to improve user experience. Currently it is not possible to revert the settings. What you can do is, help us by providing us your feedback on the new equaliser settings and let us know how has it changed your experience comparatively so that we can improve the same in future updates.
Did the issue occur after the latest update i.e. Boom 2 1.1?
If so, could you please open your Activity Monitor via Spotlight and check if you see any Boom process running? If yes, could you force quit the same and try launching Boom 2 again and check if it helps?
If the issue persists, could you please follow the troubleshooting steps below:
- Please make sure that your menu bar is not crowded while trying to launch the app
- Could you please delete the app via Application folder and reinstall a fresh copy via our website www.globaldelight.com/boom and check if it helps? (here, the issue might be of incomplete update which might occur due to weak networks while updating Boom to the latest version)
If you still get the same issue then, please open your Console app, do a clear display at the top and try launching Boom 2 again. You will see logs generated in Console, please send us the same to Support Team (boom@globaldelight.com).
If none of the above works. we would like to have a Skype call to diagnose the issue and help you with the same.
Why can't you tell me / show me what the previous settings were so I can get them back?
You want my feedback? It makes everything sound hollow. Perviously there was a good amount of impactful bass that really enhances all the music I listened to. I combined the 'My Macbook Pro' equaliser setting with the Fidelity option. Now whatever I do I can't get it so sound as good, the sound is hollow.
Did you try the troubleshooting steps provided for the above post? Please do and let us know if it helps. If not, please contact our Support Team (boom2@globaldelight.com/boom) for further help.
Hi @AlexanderTsmith, It would really help if you can help us identify which MBP version is it that you are using. Also, is it that you are usually connected to external speakers?
Please note, we have intentionally dropped the bass levels from certain versions of the MBP owing to concerns from users who felt that the audio was clipping when listening to bass heavy music with the fidelity audio effect. Boom also responds to external speakers in specific ways.
Sadly this has affected your preference of bass levels and while we aim to bring a brighter logic in the subsequent updates, you can manually adjust the EQ for now to get close enough to our previous configuration. Ideally you would want to enter in to the advanced EQ mode and manually increase the db levels for bass bands (first 12 slider from left) by about 2.2db and Mid values ( 9 sliders from the 12th one) by about 1.1db. Additionally you can bring treble bands ( last 10 sliders on the right) lower by 0.5db as well.
This will get you closer to the previous settings. However, do not be disappointed, we are going to take care of this in a smarter way soon enough. I am into the design and research team here and shall act on your feedback!
I am having these same problems, have tried the 'fixes' suggested above and now submitted a support request via email. I was intrigued by the "Please make sure that your menu bar is not crowded while trying to launch the app". Why should that make a difference? And surely an app should be able to work no matter (within reason) how many other processes are running?
