appstore upgrade to 1.8 broke boom

edited November 2013 in Boom Discussions
Previous version of Boom installed prior to OSX Mavericks upgrade, remained in place after upgrade and worked perfectly.

App store pushed the update to boom 1.8 this morning, and now the boom audio device is listed in the audio devices control panel but no options available and system audio does not appear on the boom application. Boom volume slider not available on menu bar, right click and left click on the menu bar icon both invoke the boom main application.

additionally, system volume control is not changing audio volume, so the boom device presumably does have control.

Attempted an uninstall then reinstall via app store, same results. Please advise.

thank you,

  • why on earth didn't you include this with the main app?
  • You have a choice to go with the site version. The Mac App Store version would be what you are following.
  • I followed the steps in the above article but the installation fails, and I informed to contact support. I purchased boom from the mac App Store. I also have the latest version of iTunes installed. please advise on next steps. thank you
  • Hi Boom1234,

We have sent you a zip file, please instal and let us know if it helps.
  • Am I missing something? I bought Boom on the mac store after trying the trial from the site. I use Boom for Amazon and netflix mostly to boost my sound output. It was PERFECT. However now that I purchased this I get the "boost my files" or "boost itunes" this is pretty useless for me now. Is there a way I can get a refund or the version that was in your trial? Seriously dissapointed as you guys had it perfect.
  • Hi Ril3y,

Mac App Store users facing issues with volume boosting, please follow these simple steps and update the audio component:

-> Open Boom's main interface and click on the 'Know More - Mac Volume'
    tab given on the bottom.
-> Click on the 'Know More' button. This takes you to a page containing
    the latest audio component.
-> Download the appropriate file and install it. This enables the
    system-wide volume booster feature.
->Once the installation completes, click on 'Done' in Boom window.
