No audio coming out when Boom is On :(

edited May 2013 in Boom Discussions
Unfortunately I can't get Boom to work. When I switch Boom on I don't get any audio. I have tried with both the laptop speakers as well as headphones. I have tried switching manually on the System Preferences, as well as letting Boom do the switch by pressing Boom Volume On.

I am using a MacBook Pro Retina (mid 2012) with OS X 10.8.3. I am also using a Thunderbolt connection to my Cinema Display as well as a Thunderbolt Ethernet connection to my Time Machine. In System Preferences I have as output Headphones, BoomDevice and Display Audio.

It would be great to get it work, given I paid for it....

thanks,

Elia

  • Hi Elia,

Regarding your query, display port is connected via HDMI. We would like to inform you that there has been cases where Boom had issues with HDMI input or the Thunderbolt output.
We have noticed the issue and our developers are notified about the same.
But often, Boom works fine with the same.
Could you please unplug Thunderbolt and check whether you still get the same issue?

Usually Boom switches automatically by itself when any audio output device is connected or removed from the system.
Ideally when Boom is active, BoomDevice would be selected. It also depends on which external Output is being used. If you have been using internal speakers then click on the internal speakers or if any other external device like speakers, headphones (if Boom is active then the selection reverts to BoomDevice, this is normal), now play any audio file on your system and check if you can hear the boosted sound.
  • Hey,
Could you please share in detail what type of Thunderbolt and external device you are using so that it will be helpful for use to regenerate this issue.

I installed Boom and it worked great for a day or two, now I have absolutely no sound on my 27" iMac. Deleted the application and still no sound.....what do I do now!
