Boom not working

Well, I got the "Boom" damaged and can't be opened. Delete "Boom" and download it again from the App Store" -message. Now I have no sound on my mac at all. I would gladly delete and download it again except that I have Boom 1x which is no longer available at the App Store and I'm still running on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 so I wouldn't be able to use Boom 2 in any case. I bought the application in 2012 and have an iTunes receipt so I must have gotten it via the App Store at the time. Please help and advise so I can continue to have audio on my computer, thank you.

    Hi,

Could you please check if your system date and time is set to the current one? If not, you will get the same error. Please make sure that you are connected to the internet connection.
Also, let us know the app version that was installed on your Mac.
Since, we have stopped the sales of Boom 1x app both from the App Store as well as our Web Store, it is not possible for you to download and re-install the app on your Mac with OS X 10.6.8
  • I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. How would I check if my system date and time is set to current one?  What does that mean? My internet connection is fine.
The original iTunes receipt says Boom v1.5 (+4). My Boom is version 1.8.1 -at least the system profiler indicates that is was last modified on 1/19/14 2:16 PM to that.
Can I just remove Boom to the trash from the applications folder and relaunch from the documents folder (BoomDevice.pkg and BoomDevice.pkg.zip)? I'm not very versed in computers as you can see, but I figured if I remove Boom with AppCleaner it would remove everything that's Boom.

  • I have the EXACT same problem.

Running SL 10.6.8 with Boom 1 and had to delete as it was damaged.
Shouldn't there be an alternate approach to support old users?

    Hi,

The latest update of Boom 1.x is v1.9.5 that is compatible with the latest OS X El Capitan. In developing this update, we had to make use of certain technologies that unfortunately don't support OS X 10.6 and 10.7. Hence, the minimum OS version you'll need is 10.8 and later. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
  • If the latest update is incompatible, why can't we download a previous version that will work? And why did all our Boom 1.8.1 apps stop working all of a sudden. I didn't make any changes, so why did it break? And what about the support promised until July 2016?

  • Why can't users of older 10.6.8 Snow Leopard be allowed a previous version?  I'm old school, back in the day we could at least re-load a CD of the program, or KEEP our original download.  As a paid customer, I feel left in the cold, just because it is "easier" for you guys to abandon older OS's and package only for newer ones.  Boom uninstalled, and now I've got nothing, not even an offer of a refund.  Nice move guys.
  • It sucks to buy a product, have it installed and in use, only to be told that you CAN'T use it anymore, because it was easier for you to distribute ONE version.  As a paid customer, I'm really disappointed.  Why are you leaving us out in the cold?
  • How does an older purchased version of Boom 1.x that worked on an older OS, Snow Leopard, (which is no longer being updated itself) become damaged? Even if new technologies are used in later Boom 1.x versions that only work with OSX 10.8 and beyond, that doesn't "damage" existing installations surely?
