Does Boom work with the speakers in a Thunderbolt display?

  • Hey,

Regarding your query, we would like to inform you that there has been cases where Boom had issues with Thunderbolt. We have noticed the issue and our developers are notified about the same. Could you please unplug Thunderbolt and check whether you still get the same issue?

But often, Boom works fine with the same.

Ideally when Boom is active, BoomDevice would be selected. It also depends on which external Output is being used. If you have been using internal speakers then click on the internal speakers, headphones (if Boom is active then the selection reverts to BoomDevice, this is normal), now play any audio file on your system and check if you can hear the boosted sound.
  • Unfortunately I'm using the Thunderbolt with a Mac Mini, so I can't unplug it. Is there something else I can try?
  • Hey there,

Regarding your query, have you tried the 7 day trial version of Boom? Please download the trial version of Boom and let us know if you come across any issue.
    Note :
    1. Please make sure to have only one copy of Boom in your system, also please make sure that you install Boom app in Application folder itself and not in any subfolders.
    2. Please go to System Sound Preference and check whether BoomDevice has been installed under output.

Still if you have any issues, please contact our Support Team.
  • Hey,

Could you please share what type of Thunderbolt cable and external device you are using so that it will be helpful for use to regenerate this issue.
