Hi, I got Voilá from the latest bundle (MacUpdate), nice App. At first I was a little bit skeptical, these bundles are loaded with "all sorts of apps" but I gotta say that I find Voila as good (and even better sometimes) as Skitch. But there's one thing I couldn't find in Voila: The ability to rotate images. I use (skitch) and now Voila not only to capture sshots, but to add comments or arrows to existing pictures. Some picture aren't properly rotated (iphone, i'm looking at you), nor will stay rotated even after you save 'em (Preview -> buggy). For this reason, a Rotate Left/right would be excellent.
Other than that, I must use the program more to comment.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

Thank you very much for your suggestion.
This is a very good suggestion. We will consider this.

Thanks for considering it. I think that it's a tool that is part of the "basic" workflow.
Martin.
For a pure screen capture program, I can see why a Rotate function would seem unnecessary. Screen captures are typically oriented correctly anyway.
But this program has enough features that I would like to use it for non-screen images occasionally, and some of those have the wrong orientation. A Rotate command would be very handy.
[Off-topic aside: When I preview this message, it includes a bunch of Warning messages from your server (I presume), all complaining about something missing from file . Sorry if the all that comes through. I just registered for your forum a few minutes ago - don't know if that is pertinent.]
Thanks for your feedback. We believe, you are referring to rotating the images captured on the workbench? It would be great to know the wrong orientation so that we can look into it.
We were working on updating the Forum software and updating some plugins. There was some conflict with one of the plugins and we have sorted it out. Thanks for reporting though..

For example, when I take a “portrait†photo with my digital camera, I rotate the camera 90 degrees so that the long dimension of the image is vertical. A normal photo would be taken in “landscape†orientation.
When I open the portrait photo file in Voila, it appears in the Workbench in landscape orientation (the long dimension of the image is horizontal), so the image is on its side. Landscape orientation is typically the way most camera photos are displayed. I would like to be able to manually rotate the image to portrait orientation.
Voila already includes commands to flip images vertically or horizontally. Rotation seems like a no-brainer. It doesn't have to be free rotation for my purposes - 90-degree increments would be fine.
Another wrinkle in this process is that modern cameras often include an Orientation flag in the EXIF data that is embedded in the image file (the camera can sense its orientation at the time the photo is taken). The Mac Finder and some other applications check the Orientation flag and automatically rotate the image if necessary to display it with the proper orientation. It appears that Voila doesn't check this flag, and images that have been opened in Voila and then saved back to the Desktop no longer have the flag. So if I take a portrait image which displays properly in the Finder (because it has the flag that indicates Portrait orientation), open it in Voila, and then save it back to the Desktop, the saved version appears to be flipped over on its side. But I'm not necessarily advocating that you use the Orientation flag. If you just ignore it and don't save it, but provide a way to manually rotate an image in the Workbench, that would be fine with me.
Thanks.

Thanks for the detailed description. We will look into the 'orientation' option and check how we can support this.
Thanks for your time and valuable feedback.

Thank you for sending us the link. We will pass it to our development team and have a look at it. But cannot promise you anything.
