Flip Horizontal or Vertical greyed out. No explanation. No helpfile entry, nothing

I have an image loaded.
it is selected and shows either red crosses or black boxes.
Edit>Flip Horizontal or Vertical is greyed out.
Image lock unlocked.
I need to flip the image.
How do I do this?

Hey Ewan,

Regarding your query, base images cannot be rotated/flipped but top images can be.

The top image can be dragged to the base image. You can resize it manually by dragging the edges of the image.

Top images can be dragged if pin is on, to rotate, press command and move mouse pointer to the corner.

Base image = Captured image
Top image = Added image
