Boom 2 sometimes adds latency

Hi support team,

I'm having repeated problems where Boom 2 on 10.10.3 starts to add latency of a half-second or so to any audio played out of my computer. Toggling the volume boost or EQ on and off generally fixes it. Any assistance in clearing this up would be greatly appreciated. This is a bit of a deal breaker for my use of Boom 2, so if this can't be fixed, I need to know who I can talk to about a refund.

  • Hey,

Could you please let us know which Mac are you using? Could you please let us know the audio source?

Also, do check with different audio source and let us know whether the issue is consistent.
Does this latency appear in the Mac internal speakers or any external connected headset/speakers?

If you could provide us with a sequence to regenerate the issue, that would be great.
Also, let us know the Boom 2 app version used by you.
  • It's Boom 2 1.2.1 on an iMac, using a Roland Octa-Capture as the audio interface The problem seems to be independent of the audio interface, however. It is likewise independent of audio source; all audio passing through Boom 2 is delayed, whether audio streamed from a browser, played back from Spotify, iTunes, or another piece of software. The only common denominator is Boom 2.

I do not know what causes it, so cannot offer any consistent way to reproduce it. It appears to happen spontaneously.

Making any change to a setting that toggles something in Boom 2 tends to clear it up, but then after some amount of time it happens again. Toggling the volume boost or EQ clears it up, as does switching the output device.
  • Hey,

Could you please let us know whether the issue appears on Mac internal Speakers or only while using the audio interface? Also, when the issue appears again please take a screenshot of the Activity Monitor for Boom 2 and send it across to our Support Team (boom2@globaldelight.com).
We would like to look further into the issue.
