I use my MacBook Pro to make and answer iPhone calls. If I have Boom 2 installed and running, when I answer a call the person calling says they hear echoing really bad. I can only solve this by uninstalling Boom 2.
Having the same issue which has been a problem for a while now. When trying to switch Output Device in volume icon menu it doesn't allow switching from 'Boom2Device' to 'Internal Speakers' - something I used to do to remedy the annoyance in the past.
MBPr OS X 10.11.3 Boom 2 version 1.4
Would love if the developers could finally address this pretty big issue.
Hello. I can't switch output devices either. Sound goes in my Logitech H340 USB headset+mic with a loud distortion.
Right now, I have tried setting the Boom cursor in the menu bar to its minimal position and then reset it to a medium position. Then the sound goes only to the internal speakers of my Mac with no distortion. I don't know if I will be able to reproduce this workaround later on.
I'm experiencing the same issue. Since FaceTime is a feature that I use at random (when my phone rings), this means that I need to keep boom 2 closed except when I specifically need it. Practically this means that I will only benefit from boom 2 minimally, only when I specifically think to open it like when the volume is sounding to low in a particular situation.
For me, this will likely relegate Boom 2 from being an application I regularly notice and appreciate, to an application I rarely think of or use except special circumstances.
Other than this, I reliably like the app and it has definitely made a noticeable difference in the volume of my quiet little Macbook Air. Please let me know when this is fixed so that I can set the app to start with the system again.

Just having the boom kernel extensions installed seems to throw it for a loop. (Even when selecting the correct audio device for input)
