Questioning the necessity of boosting tracks

edited July 2015 in Boom Discussions
Using iTune 12.2.0.145, I've listened to a couple of tracks that were boosted (by Boom (1)) and the originals. I couldn't detect any obvious differences. I am using Yosemite 10.10.4 and a late model 2008 MPB, Karmon-Harden Soundsticks II and Boom 2.1. I don't remember the equalizer setting from when I performed the original boosting.

Internet Radio and the unboosted tracks sound Great vs. when not using Boom. I conclude that Boom is boosting in real-time (ignoring the original boost settings); this raises the question - why do I need to boost tracks at all?

My guess is that I don't, and that I can avoid chewing up the disk space of duplicated boosted tracks. However, I would need boosting if I played the tracks on a device that did not have Boom.

Final question - why isn't this information on the product page and/or in the FAQ as a pinned discussion since there is no instruction manual?

Please confirm or advise. Thanks.
