Problem with output Mac Mini

Hi there.

My Mac Mini (Yosemite 10.10.3 Boom 2 1.1.2) is connected to my HDTV and suddenly, during a video, there is no more sound. Or when I start to watch a video, there is no sound. I have to actually go into System Preferences and switch to the HDMI output for it to start working again.

Help, please! This problem is really annoying.

This happens only on my Mac Mini connected to the HDTV. On my iMac and MacBook Pro it works fine.

  • Hi Oliverheilmair,

When connecting HDTV, the device will list in your System Sound Preferences output. You need to go to System Sound Preferences and select BoomDevice.
If Boom is active then the selection reverts to BoomDevice, this is normal, now play any audio file on your system and check if you can hear the boosted sound.
When connecting any external devices to your Mac, you need to select the device manually via System Preferences Sound Output.
  • Hi ShreyasKuthu,

Ok, so every time I turn off/on my TV I have to reselect the output?

Sometimes, when I'm watching a video or listening to a music, it stops working. Then I have to go to System Preferences and select any output for it to work again. Do you have any idea why that happens?

Thank you for the quick response!
  • Hi Oliverheilmair,

Yes, you need to manually select the TV output.

Is there any sequence to regenerate the issue? Is the issue consistent?
