Weirdness! 1940's Radio Garble Out Of The Blue!

This has got to be one of the most weirdest computer moments. I was listening to a Video via MPlayerX. Sounded fine. Went to make a pot of tea and when I hit the play button the sound was "nothing" like before. It was something like you'd hear in one of those old 1940's Radios. Kind of a garble and staticy.

forgot to mention. Video plays fine when I turn off Boom2 Equalizer OFF. When I turn the Equalizer On, it works okay until I change Apps. When I go back to my Video player I get the same old-time radio crackle.
