BOOM destroyed my Macbook audio

Boom totally destroyed my system audio on my Macbook Pro. I installed the latest version of Boom (1.4), on my Macbook running osx 10.6.8. At first everything seemed fine, but the other day all my audio just stopped. When I disabled Boom the audio come back on, and when I created a new account on my Macbook the sound was working for that account. I double checked all my system settings, and made sure I had all system updates, so it's not a Mac issue. I'm very disappointed in this software.

  • @NoSOund4Boom,

Regarding your query, could you tell us which are the output devices you see in your System Sound Preference?
Ideally when Boom is active, BoomDevice would be selected. It also depends on which external Output is being used. If you have been using internal speakers then click on the internal speakers or if any other external device like speakers/headphones, if Boom is active then the selection reverts to BoomDevice, this is normal. Now play any audio file on your system and check if you can hear the boosted sound.

  • Like I said in my post, I triple checked all the system sound preferences. I made sure the correct settings were in place. As soon as I turn Boom on, the sound goes out. Also, while Boom is turned on, the buttons become very unresponsive with a lot of lag. As soon as I turn Boom off, everything works fine.
  • @NoSOund4Boom,

    Thank you for your response.
As you mentioned that buttons become unresponsive, could you tell us whether you are using Bluetooth headsets? Recently few users have reported that Boom has issues with Bluetooth headset/speakers. But with OS 10.7.4 update some times it works with some type of BT headsets while it may not work with few others.
If you do not have BT issue, then could you please uninstall Boom and make a fresh install and check whether you still get the same issue. While uninstalling Boom, make sure that you do it within the app i.e setting->preference->uninstall.
    Next, install a fresh copy.
