Audio/Video out of sync on all streaming applications

edited January 2015 in Boom Discussions
Hello,
I notice that since I installed Boom (paid version), when I watch videos, the audio my starts off normal then lags over time. This happens every time and on multiple browsers (FF & Chrome) with any streaming video I watch. This also includes my saved video files which I play on applications like VLC. I had to uninstall for now but love the program when I am not watching video. It clearly is the Boom app since it's happening only with it installed and, again, on multiple applications.

Just wanted to bring this issue to the admin's attention and see if there are any settings I can tweak. In vlc, I'd usually end up periodically delaying or speeding up the audio but it was too inconvenient.

  • I'm also having this problem & a bit frustrated by it since the same issue was discussed a year ago - http://globaldelight.com/globaldelightforum/discussion/1487/problem-with-boom-and-stuttering/p1
Why was the discussion closed if it's still an issue?

This happened to me in Netflix & VLC on my old black MacBook, so I was ready to blame it on the age of the computer, but the same thing just happened while trying to watch a trailer on Rotten Tomatoes on my MacBook Pro.

Watching videos was the exact purpose I bought this application for. I think I'd like a refund if this doesn't get resolved.

    Hi Unazebra,

Could you please let us know which OS are you using? Are you using OS 10.7.5? If so, few users have reported the same issue. We suggest you to install previous version of Boom and check if it helps. Please contact our Support Team to get access to previous version of Boom i.e. v1.8.1.
The issue reported previously was resolved in the beta version, hence we closed the discussion post.
  • Hi guys,

I have the very same problem at the moment. Recent Boom version on recent Mavericks install. I had it earlier too, but then it somehow vanished only to come back yesterday...

I'm using Yosemite 10.10.10 on a Macbook Pro and a Macbook Air. I've had the same problem ever since purchasing Boom a couple years ago: I can't use my headset since Boom keeps insisting on hogging the Output and Input in Preferences -> Sound. I am about to dump Boom permanently (with notices on Facebook and Twitter) unless you stop making excuses and find a way to fix this problem or help us, your users, to fix this problem. It's been going on for years now. The only relief I got was when Mavericks held things steady. Now Boom once more is insisting on displacing my headset, on which I rely. Boom is less important to me than clear communications via Skype, etc. Get ready to say "Goodbye," Boom.
  • Recently I purchased Boom and I'm experiencing this problem since first run of the program many times a day in Chrome, iTunes, QuickTime, etc.
    This is really annoying.
    Yosemite 10.10
  • I have this issue with Boom 2. I have shut down Boom 2 until I can see progress has been made with the audio sync.
  • Still having syncing issues with the sound when Boom 2 is operating. When I turn Boom off, the syncing gets back in line and there is no delay.
  • Hi All:

When we receive sync related cases, we spend a good amount of time analyzing all details such as the service used in which the delay was observed, OS X version, browser (if at all) type/version, Mac hardware and many other details. Some times our QA team tries it hard to regenerate the issue in our test systems and hence we request all of our dear customers to send sync issues to boom2@globaldelight.com for Boom 2 app and boom@globaldelight.com for Boom 1.x app. More details and your cooperation can help us identify the issue.. Thank you.
  • Having the same audio being behind the video sync issues. Recently bought Boom because the audio on my Macbook is dismal, and was pleased with the increased volume Boom provided, but started noticing when taking video tutorials that the lips were moving about a second behind the voice in said videos. It wasn't until I tried to watch the same videos on a different computer that I realized it wasn't a problem with the tutorials but rather my Macbook. Found this thread and now it makes perfect sense that this is Boom related.
