5.1 Support Through Digital Audio Out?

I searched for this but could find no topic on it.

Does Boom support 5.1 surround sound output via a Mac's digital audio out port or does it only output stereo sound?

I am using my Mac as a home theater computer, so need the 5.1 output.

Currently we do not have such device in our architecture.
What you can do is, try using Boom with digital audio port and check if you come across any issues.
