Can't make it work

edited January 2014 in Boom Discussions
I have a Mac Pro with several audio out options. I installed Boom and although it shows in Sound it has no audio out to any of the connections I use (headphones, or one of two line outs, for example). I don't use or have internal speakers.

After installing I got the icon in menubar, but the slider does nothing. Boom is selected as output device, but none of the hardware choices appear next to it.

What's up?

  • Hi 211rob,

Regarding your query, are you selecting BoomDevice manually via System Preferences Sound? We do not suggest selecting the device manually in System Sound Preference. Boom switches automatically by itself when any audio output device is connected or removed from the system.
Usually there are few third party apps where you might need to manually select the output device in order to hear the audio from the same. Ideally when Boom is active, BoomDevice would be selected. It also depends on which external Output is being used. If you have been using internal speakers then click on the internal speakers or if any other external device like speakers, headphones (if Boom is active then the selection reverts to BoomDevice, this is normal), now play any audio file on your system and check if you can hear the boosted sound.
