Out of Sync

edited January 2014 in Boom Discussions
I have had to turn off Boom because the audio is so out of sync that it is now annoying. My iMac is a 27-inch, Late 2009 but it should still have enough poke for this surely? Can you suggest any tweaks to reduce the delay?

  • Hi Jaimieh,

  • Since the latest update, I've also been experiencing issues with out of sync audio and video. Please help!
  • Hi JuanH,

We have come up with a new beta version where we have tried providing a fix for the issue. We will send you the beta version Please provide us your feedback on the same.
  • Hello,

I've been having the same problem, especially if the audio is in tandem with an HDMI connection. I ended up turning Boom off while watching a video via HDMI.

Today, I'm also getting a lot of strange console errors over & over related to Boom, for instance:

    1/13/14 10:33:55.696 AM Boom[272]: CGError CGSGetDisplaySystemState(uint64_t, CGSDisplaySystemState **): MIG error 0x10000003: (ipc/send) invalid destination port

Is this related to Screen Sharing (which was on/in use when these messages were generated)?

    Thanks.
  • Hi LunaTicket,

The error message is of external display and is not related to Boom.
Could you please elaborate your query?
We would like to inform you that there has been cases where Boom had issues with HDMI connection. But often, Boom works fine with the same. Please contact our Support Team for further help.
  • Hi,

    I'm having the same problem.

Using Boom causes the audio to lag behind video in every application I've tried - Quicktime, VLC, iTunes, even Premiere and iMovie.

Any word on an updated version coming out soon?

    Thanks,
    - Aaron
  • Hi Aaron,

We have fixed the sync issue in Boom and there is a beta version available. If you wish to test the same then, please contact our Support Team.
Timeline for the update is highly unpredictable as we are working on few other bugs in Boom.
  • How do we contact the Support Team to get the beta to fix the sync problem with the app I just bought?
  • Please click => Support Team

  • Hi there,

As I have read on your forum others are experiencing the same problem.
The video is out of sync with the sound, I have tried other DVD players and still a problem. It is only when I turned off Boom last night that I realised this is my problem.
I am quite disappointed, I like Boom and now I can not use it. I paid for the full version in late October 2013.
Also, I have been trying to solve the sync issue for weeks, I have downloaded many DVD players for my iMac, restarted movies over and over to see if this works.
And now it turns out that the only App I have ever paid for is faulty and has cost me many hours of work.

    Please help

  • Hi Starii,

We believe that Support Team has provided you with the beta version. Please do update your feedback about the beta.
  • I have the same issue as these folks above - audio badly out of sync on video playback. The main issues are with YouTube and Netflix. Love this app, but the update isn't the best.
  • Hi Angieraess.

Please contact our Support Team for the beta version.
  • FYSA (For Your Situational Awareness)

I contacted the Support Team and they sent me a link for the Beta application. However the Beta app is only good for 7 days. Hmm.. I paid 7 bucks for the app that didn't work. Now I get a Beta app that does work but only for 7 days.
So from my understanding they want you to just merely check and see if it fixes your problem. After the 7 day period you are to delete it.

I like the product. I want it to work. If I pay for it then it should last longer than 7 days.
  • Hi ThomasM,

We will be releasing an update for Boom with the fixes provided in the beta soon.
Currently there are few changes to be done, once done the update will be out.
We have provided the beta in order to confirm the fixes.
  • Hi guys, I'm having the same issue, I paid for the full version a while back. It was working fine but for the last few months it has pushed all audio out of sync, I have stopped using it as it's really annoying to watch something with the audio out of sync with the visual. I have two macs - macbook pro early 2011 and imac late 2009 both with the same issue.
  • Hi Nikleson,

Could you please let us know which version of Boom are you using?
Is the issue consistent? Could you please let us know the music source? Please do send us your OS details.
When the sound falls out of sync, could you please check your Console app and see if you find any Boom related error logs? If Boom is causing the issue, then you should find the logs. Do send it across to us.
You can search for Console app via Spotlight. Please send the same to our Support Team.
  • HI guys, I'll get this info together and come back to you.
  • I'm having the same sync problem as Nikleson. I'm using a MacBook Pro (15-inch Core 2 Duo). Unfortunately, I don't know which version I have because I uninstalled it, but the App Store won't let me re-download it because it says it's still installed. I believe it is the latest version because it wasn't in the update list in the App Store when I checked a couple of days ago.

Whenever I try to watch any video with Boom running, The audio gets way out of sync and the video starts to stutter a few minutes later. When I quit Boom, the problem goes away.
  • Hi Vinnygi,

App Store shows as already installed, as it seems that you did not uninstall Boom within the app. It is always suggested to uninstall Boom within the app itself via Settings->Preferences->Uninstall. Please download uninstall script to uninstall Boom audio component via the link below. Next reinstall Boom via purchase point and check if it helps.

If you still have any issues, please get in touch with our Support Team.
  • I'm having a similar problem with Boom - the audio will stutter and then be out of sync during video playback. I've noticed the problem most while watching video (Netflix, etc...) in Chrome. I'm running Mac OS 10.9.4 and Boom 1.9.1. I'd love to get this problem fixed as it seems to happen fairly often (it's intermittent, but once every 30 minutes or so is the average). What can I do to fix this problem?
  • Hi Artlogic,

Could you please check your ‘Console’ app for any error message of Boom during sync issue? Could you please search your Console (at the time when issue occurs) with following terms and send us the Console logs?
    Terms:
    Boom
    clip
    ioaudiostream

Also, while the sound glitches, please open your Console app via Spotlight and check if you get any error message and send it to us.
We ask your help as we have previously tried fixing the issue but few users have reported the same issue and we are unable to regenerate the issue. The logs, which will be provided by you will really help us in fixing the issue.

    Your help is appreciated.
  • This out-of-sync thing happens to me from time-to-time. It is very frustrating, and affects all audio, even like the volume control "ding" when you adjust the volume - it is delayed. Turning off the equalizer (I don't use the volume boost) will sometimes fix it. Weird.

This is on a 2011 Mac Mini with a quad-core Core i7 CPU with 16 GB RAM and running the system off a 512GB SSD drive. System performance is very good overall.

I'm on Mac OS X 10.9.4 and Boom 1.9.1 from the Mac App Store.

    Fred
  • Hi Fred,

Did you find any error logs which is posted in the post previous to yours? Please do send the same to our Support Team to diagnose the issue. Could you please let us know whether the issue started since using OS X 10.9.4?
  • I Just found out about Boom and really impressed with the EQ and visual design, but videos on youtube, netflix etc. have a 1 second delay. It makes the product useless. Can you send me the beta? If that doesn't work I'd have to ask for a refund until it gets resolved.

Im on 27 iMac Yosemite 10.10.2
    Thank you!
  • HI, I'm using Boom2 v1.0.1. I will do some testing with others and let you know the results and see if I can send some logs. Thank you.
  • That would be great!
  • Just upgraded to 1.1.1 and still getting out of sync issues and now even worse getting system delays and popping audio.
  • They have our money so apparently they don't much care about our delay and sync issues....
  • Hi,

Could you please provide us with Yes/No answer with one line answer for the following sequences:

    1. Does the sync issue occur after the launch of the Boom 2?
    2. Or does it occur when you Pause/Play a music file or video?
    3. If the sync issue occurs during watching a YouTube video, immediately check whether the issue occurs with the local files (any videos of your collection in QuickTime). If only in streaming video, specify the browser.
    4. When you come across the sync issue, how did you try to get rid of it?
    5. Which type of feature is mostly and currently used by you in Boom 2 when the sync issue occurs (Boom volume, equaliser or effects )?
    6. Are there any external speakers or headphones connected to your system?
    7. When the sync issue occurs, please open up your activity monitor and take a screenshot of the same and send it to us.
    8. Also send us the full system config.
