VLC audio missing with Mavericks + Boom 1.8

Everytime I play a file in VLC with Boom enabled the audio is gone. When I exit Boom audio immediately returns so it seems VLC doesnt like Boom all of a sudden.

As VLC use their own sound output device, hence you need to select BoomDevice within the VLC app (please refer screenshot below).
