Is there a way to recover recording if app/computer crashes during recording?

edited November 2013 in Voila Discussions
Once in awhile when Voila is recording, the app crashes or my computer crashes. When I relaunched Voila, it says the file is corrupted. The *.mov file still exists in the Voila directory, but nothing seems to be able to play it.

I was wondering if it's possible to recover the recording in this scenario or if it's gone for good.

Thanks!

  • For others who've hit this issue, I was able to repair the mov file using: HD Video Repair Utility: http://grauonline.de/cmsimple2_6/en/?Solutions:HD_Video_Repair_Utility

It's a bit expensive. €29 for 5 repairs or €99 for unlimited repairs.

They do offer a demo version that recovers 50% of the file, so I was able to confirm that the repair actually worked.

All you have to do is provide the corrupted file located in ~/Pictures/Voila/VoilaLibrary.libVoila/Videos/ and also a reference file (one that was successfully recorded) and it'll then do its magic.

Hope this helps for others who've encountered this problem.
  • Hi there,

Could you please update your copy of Voila to the latest version and check if it helps?
