No sound effects when Boom is active

I seem to have an issue with Boom and sound effects on my Macbook Pro. When I have Boom active it works great for regular audio from Skype, YouTube etc, however I don't get any short sound notifications from apps like Skype chat or Propane (for Campfire). Not sure where the issue lies but I only get those alerts when I have Boom disabled. Any help is appreciated.

    Could you please select BoomDevice under System Preferences->Sound->Play sound effects through, and check if it helps.

    Do you notice any delay with the keyboard volume?
  • I'm having the same problem as azeis. I'm noticing it mostly with sound alerts coming from Outlook. The first part of the sound is clipped off. I've tried the suggestion above, and that didn't change anything.

    We have a beta build for Boom available where we have tried providing fix for the following issues:

    1. Audio clipping (cutting out) issue has been fixed.
    2. Kernel task issue with Boom has been fixed. Now its functions same as OS
    ( This issue is generated when system wake up from sleep where kernel task move upto 100% & gets dropped after few secs. This behaviour is same with Boom ON or OFF.)
    3. No sound when wake from sleep has been fixed.

    Please contact our Support Team to get a link to download the beta build and test the same.
  • Is this the same version that was pushed to the App Store? I've updated and my previous issue was fixed, however I notice now that I'm having out of sync audio issues with YouTube videos.

    Yes, this is the same version that was updated in the Mac App Store.
    Could you please quit Boom and check if it helps?
    Usually streaming videos contents might have audio sync issues.
    Is the issue consistent? Does it happen with any other music source?
  • Only noticed it with YouTube, and if I quit and restart Boom it seems to help. Just a hassle.

    Meantime, if possible, could you please contact our Support Team, as we are working on a beta version of Boom where we have tried providing a fix for the sync issue in Boom.
