Uninstalled Boom on MacBook Pro, no longer have sound!

edited April 2012 in Boom Discussions
I uninstalled Boom on my MacBook Pro and now not only don't I have sound, I don't even have "Internal Speaker" listed in my sound settings!

How can I get my MacBook Pro back to normal???

I did the "uninstall" option through the Boom settings, and have restarted the computer a few times, no luck. Help!

Thank you,

  • Hi Perlguy,

Once Boom is quit or uninstalled from the system, then Boom has nothing to do with your system sound.

You might want to know that we have put the application under intense testing in different scenarios and we have not been able to see any possible damage to the speakers.

Please contact our Support Team for further help.

  • Hi Dapenguin,

Thanks much for the link and knowledge. It really helps a lot.

Now we see that Boom isn't the culprit after-all.

I have this problem as well. Reloaded system problem persists boom components still show up in library there must be invisible files somewhere. I have a macbook pro running mountain lion. It is not the stuck on mute problem!
  • Hi Wimawep,

Could you please elaborate your query?
Please write to our Support Team for more help.
Please do forward the details like - system info, OS details and point of purchase. Also do elaborate your query and provide necessary screenshots if required.
  • Here's what worked for me:

    1. Open "System preferences"
    2. Open "Sound"
    3. Select "Internal Speakers" ("BoomDevice" was still selected)
    4. Speakers should operate as normal.

It looks like using CleanMyMac to uninstall Boom doesn't do a complete uninstall.

Apparently if you contact boom@globaldelight.com, they can provide you with an uninstall script to uninstall Boom completely from your system. If Boom is uninstalled completely, "BoomDevice" should no longer shown up as a device for sound output, and therefore would not remain selected = speakers would work normally.
