Boom coexistence with other virtual audio devices

edited July 2013 in Boom Discussions
Hi Guys.
I think you get something not well done if an other virtual audio device as boom exist in the device list.
If you go in Audio MIDI Setup and choose this second virtual audio device as output when the boom service app is launched it will:
1- not going back on Boom device (as it does when you choose basically Built-in output or a standard other sound card)
2- stay on this device if you choose an other device after

By the way, I think the way you choose the device output is little bit difficult for user who got more than one sound card ...

I would like you correct this problem because it very annoying when I tried to use Soundflower for example.
Thanks.

I am trying to do the exact same thing, the app could simply have a select output device within the app like a radio button list under the "Mac Volume" tab and everything would work fine. I am wishing I didn't waste my money on Boom right now.
  • @ Yamaneko, @NakkiNyan,

Regarding your query, ideally when Boom is active, BoomDevice would be selected. In order to select other device, you need to click on the new device. If Boom is active then the selection reverts to BoomDevice, this is normal. Or you can always quit Boom within the app. (please refer screenshot below)
Boom switches automatically by itself when any audio output device is connected or removed from the system.
To Quit Boom, do a right click on Boom icon:

  • I was having the same issue, Boom wouldn't let me select Soundflower. However, while your remedy worked, WHY does your help guide say that you can turn off Boom by dragging the volume down to the lowest level, or turn off the volume boost switch in the main window, NEITHER OF WHICH WORK? It should simply tell us to right-click the icon and quit the program, why give us the wrong information, which only wastes time & creates frustration?
  • Hi SaxnFlutman,

You can turn Boom volume off by dragging the Boom volume slider down, also we have provided an option to turn Boom off within the Boom window. To quit Boom, you need to either do a right click on the app->Quit or open Boom window and you will see the Quit button option to the top right corner of the Boom window.
