Delay when playing a movie

edited July 2011 in Boom Discussions
I've noticed with Boom enabled on my iMac, while the volume is enhanced and considerably louder (which is great), I'm seeing a delay. So when I watch a movie file, the audio ends up out of sync with the picture. The delay varies a bit (maybe based on encoding - haven't tested enough yet to know), but it's usually between about 1/3 of a second, up to 1 second late compared to the image. If I kill Boom, the delay goes away.

Does anyone else see this?

  • Hi there!

For an initial analysis, could you send us your system info? You can obtain this using Boom from the 'About Boom' section (refer screenshot). Please send this to boom@globaldelight.com
  • I have a similar problem I just tracked down to Boom. The delay is intermittent. I use it when watching video via "EyeTV". When I first installed Boom I didn't have the problem. Then it was there sometimes. Now I had delay, turned off Boom volume on the menu, and for the first time in days audio was in sync. Do you want my system info?
